Sturgeon Electric provided the voice, data, and video infrastructure for Sonny Lubick Field at Canvas Stadium (formerly Hughes Stadium), a 41,000-seat stadium that integrates athletic, academic, and premium meeting spaces into a single facility on the Colorado State University campus.

The 15-member Sturgeon Electric crew installed network cabling and terminations for voice, data, and wireless internet support, which included more than 4,000 Cat-6A cables – the equivalent of 50-plus miles of cabling – the intermediate distribution frames (IDFs) located throughout the stadium. The team built out 26 IDF and one main distribution frame (MDF) closets and one entrance facility, all with cabinets, racks, wire managers, ladder racking and grounding, and bonding.

The new facility features two decks of seating on either side of the north-south stadium and a seven-story structure on the west side that houses football team offices, training facilities, meeting and locker rooms, and player lounges on the bottom two floors, plus loge boxes, indoor and outdoor suites, and a press box on the top three floors. Seating also is provided in the closed south end zone, below an 84-foot-wide, 50-foot-tall Panasonic videoboard with two decks of seating beneath 78,000 square feet of covered concourse.
