Children's Hospital North Campus Expansion

Client Children's Hospital Colorado
Completion Date 2019
Location Colorado

Sturgeon Electric provided electrical construction services for the 200,000 square-foot expansion of Children’s Hospital Colorado’s North Campus in Broomfield – nearly quadrupling the size of the previous space, which opened in 2008.

Exceeding patient volume projections signaled the need for expansion. The North Campus hospital met its five-year patient volume projections within the first two years of opening in 2008 and, ever since, its pediatric specialty care clinics have been at, or near, capacity.

The expansion allowed the hospital to add services to include emergency and urgent care, inpatient and observation care, sleep studies, operating room services, specialty clinics, an imaging center, and a diagnostic unit.

Other new services the larger facility will accommodate include infusion therapy; outpatient and behavioral health services; pharmacy and laboratory services; an optical shop; outdoor sports therapy field; food services, including a cafeteria and coffee shop; and volunteer services, including a gift shop and creative play center.
