Aviation Marker Ball Installation on the Big Eddy-Knight 500kV Transmission Line ^Transmission

Sturgeon Electric crews installed 23 aviation marker balls and associated hardware atop BPA’s Big Eddy-Knight 500kV Transmission Line. The project marked the first time a federal nonprofit agency allowed a transmission line contractor to use Class B Human External Cargo (HEC) helicopter methods, which involves flying line workers below a helicopter in an “air chair” to accomplish the required work.
