Raptor Ridge Solar Field Clean Energy

Raptor Ridge Solar Field

Client Tucson Electric Power
Completion Date 2022
Location Arizona
Completed by Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. and MYR Energy Services, Inc.

Sturgeon Electric crews are helped Uni-Source Energy Services (UNS) and Tucson Electric Power (TEP) build a new solar field: Raptor Ridge, a 100-acre facility that will provide 15 megawatts of photovoltaic (PV) solar generation capacity.

Launched in August 2021, the project finished in May 2022.

To build Raptor Ridge, Sturgeon Electric’s 65-person crew installed 35,500 PV modules controlled by a fully automated tracker system and five inverter skids, all underground, including the cabling for the DC and communication systems.

Raptor Ridge helps UNS and TEP advance its transition from carbon-intensive sources to a more sustainable energy portfolio, while maintaining reliability and ensuring rate affordability for its customers. Sturgeon Electric contracted MYR Energy, a fellow MYR Group, Inc. subsidiary, to perform all the mechanical work. The project marks the first time the two affiliated companies have teamed on a project.
