Sturgeon Electric California crews were power players in the conversion of existing Interstate 880 (I-880), southbound high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes into express lanes, performing the electrical scope of work for the 35-mile-long project. Our people installed conduit, pull boxes, wire, traffic signals, and closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) to support the lighting, signs, toll tag readers and other tolling technology, traffic-monitoring video cameras, data communications network, and California Highway Patrol enforcement observation areas.
The project is part of the ongoing, $3.7 billion build out of the Bay Area Express Lanes Network, a system of managed lanes operating and expanding throughout the region’s highway network.
