In September 2014, Colorado experienced historic flooding that caused extensive damage to the region and left many local utilities in disarray. Since then, many local contractors have come together to help aid the recovery efforts.
In April 2014, the City of Longmont held a Contractor Appreciation event to recognize the various contractors, including a team of Sturgeon Electric employees for their quick response in getting the Longmont Wastewater Treatment Plant back on line. Longmont Mayor Dennis Coombs presented certificates of appreciation at Longmont’s Civic Center Park and again at the April City Council meeting.
In addition to the first responders, members of the Sturgeon Electric’s Colorado Transmission & Distribution Gas Division, lead by Brad Balderston, responded to repair gas lines throughout Left Hand Canyon, Lyons and areas west of Longmont.
In many cases, Sturgeon Electric employees worked seven days a week for extended periods to get services back on line. Everyone involved carried out their duties with a great attitude and the utmost attention to safety.
